Home made corflute map boards

We've used home made map boards in all races since we started racing as "Bear Hunt". These are the instructions to make one.
You'll need some corflute, a T-nut and matching thumbscrew, duct tape, and three or four cable ties.

The first version used 5mm corflute, but in XPD 2016 we used 3mm corflute from recycled election placards, which also worked.
1. Cut two squares about 29 cm x 29 cm. I found 30 cm too big for my bars
2. Cut a 5 cm x 5 cm hole in the centre of each.
3. Cut one 15 cm x 15 cm square, mark the middle. (Cut two if you're using 3 mm corflute)
4. Now you want to stack the squares and glue or tape them together. I tend to cut little slits in one of the large squares and feeding tape through it, to tape in the smaller square.
5. Then tape the second large square on the top.
6. Drill a hole right in the middle for your thumb screw.

My sketch didn't turn out as nicely as the many Lego instruction manuals I read in my childhood, sorry.

The base is one layer of 5 mm corflute (or 2 x 3 mm) to fit your cockpit, with a hole and T-nut where you want it. Then two or three more layers of corflute underneath to bring the board close to level on your bars and stem while you're riding.

Use cable ties to attach the base to your bars and stem, then use the thumbscrep to attach the board to the base. It should spin without getting stuck on any other cockpit furniture.
Stick your compass to the middle of one of the sides of the board using tape. If you wanted to be fancy, you could cut a recess in the board, but that makes it harder to get the compass off again in transition.
Then use bulldog clips or very long rubber bands to hold your map to the board.
