We saw the torchlight from another team ahead of us at the last CP, and lights from another team running along the beach about a km behind us. We ran all the way to the finish (moved to race hq after 6pm) and got there during dinner. We came in third, about an hour behind Stromlonauts and five or ten minutes before Tiger.

Bear Hunt are on leg 12, 18 km trek: Bulahdelah is dominated by Alum Mountain. Historically linked with the timber and mining industries today this area features the Bulahdelah Mountain Park which has a number of walks of varying grades and magnificent views. On top of the mountain are relics to its mining past and some of the best climbing on the coast. Named by explorer John Oxley in 1818 it is the only exposed outcrop of alunite in the world. The mountain is home to 85 varieties of orchids and fascinating landscapes. This leg will take teams around the mountain and into the Bulahdelah State Forest across the Koolonock Range to the shores of Myall Lake at Korsmans Landing. Meanwhile the leading teams, Stromlonauts and Mountain Designs have finished this trek and are onto the paddle.

Bear Hunt seem to have pulled away from Tiger Adventure overnight. Now being in 3rd place (out of the four long course teams remaining). Go Bear Hunt!
Bear Hunt are on leg 11 this morning, 87 km Mtn bike ride: Riding out from Barrington, teams will head along Thunderbolts Way and into Gloucester. The town sits in a picturesque river valley surrounded by hills at the junction of the Avon, Gloucester and Barrington rivers. It was a gold rush town in the 1800’s and home to the famous bushranger Capt. Thunderbolt. From here teams will ride down the picturesque Waukivory River Valley towards the Ghin-Doo-Ee NP and Myall River State Forest past popular camping grounds and relics from the timber getting past. Teams will finish the ride at the Bulahdelah Visitors Information Centre. This comes after doing leg 10, which involved some down river tubing, yesterday evening.via Bear Hunt Adventure http://on.fb.me/1fpzupT

Mountain Designs (leading team) have finished the bike leg. No news of Bear Hunt as yet. From Wildside Adventure Race: Team Mountain Designs have just ridden straight past the TA in Barrington to refuel at the general store first! The 100km MTB was reportedly very hilly and took them quite a few more hours than planned. Gary Palmer is doing it tough on a single speed after breaking a derailleur bolt...ouch

Bear Hunt are on leg 8 this morning, 101 km Mtb: This is the longest leg of the race taking you from Ellenborough Falls across to Gloucester. The Dingo State Forest and Tapin Tops NP lie on a spectacular section of the Great Eastern Escarpment, high up in the mountains. This area is renowned for its thick forests and spectacular lookouts. Midway, you will descend to meet the Manning River again crossing over the beautiful Tiri bridge before climbing up into the range beside Callaghan's Creek and down into Gloucester. You will pass through diary farms, timber plantations and communities connected to the land.

Bear Hunt currently on leg 7, a 22km trek: This the most remote part of the race. This trek will take you deep into a part of the Manning Valley many have never been. Trek past the Comboyne dairy farms and down into Ellenborough River Gorge. The high walled gorge is only accessible from a few locations and features deep pools and huge boulders. A timbered walkway (641 steps) is at the end of this leg to the top of the Falls. The Ellenborough Falls are located on the Bulga Plateau at Elands, and at 200m, are the highest single drop falls in the Southern Hemisphere.

We're almost done packing. Gear drop-off is in an hour, and we'll be transported to the secret starting location this afternoon. The race will start at a time yet to be revealed tomorrow. We will have to go hard to get to the rogaine (Leg 4) on time to avoid the cutoff. Super excited! Due to a mishap with the GoPro, we won't be taking a camera. There are lots of water crossings and we don't have a water proof camera.
